Discover a different approach to aging well through traditional movement, breath, and internal energy cultivation.
Begin with Yi Jin Jing, the Tendon-Changing Classic, and gradually explore the deeper internal practices those same temples spent centuries refining.
What if your movement practice could be a foundation for something deeper?
SECOND WIND introduces adults 55+ to traditional Shaolin-inspired exercises that bring together stretching, twisting, controlled tension and coordinated breathing.
It's an opportunity to explore physical conditioning and the traditional art of internal energy cultivation, at a progressive, approachable pace.
Discover the method →A progressive practice that brings together three complementary dimensions of healthy aging.
Explore mobility, posture, balance and controlled strength through traditional movement.
Learn to coordinate breathing with movement, relaxation and growing body awareness.
Explore Qi and the traditional principles of internal cultivation through progressively deeper practices.
SECOND WIND follows a progressive path inspired by two traditional classics, rather than overwhelming you with advanced exercises from the beginning.
Discover a traditional approach to conditioning through deliberate stretching, twisting, flexing and breathing.
As your practice develops, explore the Five Phases (the traditional Chinese framework of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water) through breathing, meditation and energy-awareness practices refined over centuries of internal cultivation.
Qi, meridians and the Five Phases (Wu Xing) are concepts within traditional Chinese medicine and internal cultivation; they are not established medical mechanisms or treatments.
Traditional Shaolin-inspired conditioning offers a different experience: one that combines deliberate movement, controlled tension and breath before progressing into the subtler dimensions of internal practice.
Your movement practice can evolve with you.
Explore the program →Discover the unusual combination of stretching, twisting and controlled tension behind Yi Jin Jing.
Explore a tradition that places special emphasis on tendons, posture and coordinated whole-body movement.
Discover why the traditional path begins with the body before progressing into deeper internal practices.
The body comes first, always. Not as a warm-up, but because internal practice without a stable physical foundation is where most people get lost.
SECOND WIND is designed for adults 55+ who want to explore traditional movement, maintain an active lifestyle and discover a deeper mind-body practice.
Interested in traditional movement but unsure where to begin.
Looking for a structured practice centered on mobility, strength and body awareness.
Drawn to the traditional energetic and contemplative dimensions of Qigong.
No. Second Wind draws from a different lineage (Shaolin-inspired conditioning and traditional Chinese internal practices) rather than the Tai Chi forms most people picture. The movement style, pacing, and progression are distinct, though both traditions share roots in breath-coordinated movement.
None at all. This isn't martial arts training. It's traditional conditioning and breathwork drawn from martial traditions, taught for mobility, strength, and internal practice, not combat application. Most participants have never trained in any martial art before starting.
It's a traditional Chinese framework, including concepts like Qi, meridians, and the Five Phases (Wu Xing), used for centuries alongside physical practice to describe breath, awareness, and internal sensation. We teach it as it's traditionally practiced. These are traditional concepts, not medical claims.
No. The program is deliberately staged. You'll build a physical foundation through Yi Jin Jing before progressing into the deeper internal practices of Stage Two. Nobody starts with the advanced material, regardless of fitness level.
No. Second Wind is a movement and conditioning practice, not medical treatment or physical therapy. If you're managing an injury or a diagnosed condition, we'd recommend clearing any new movement practice with your doctor first, and we're happy to talk through what a session actually involves before you begin.
